“My time here has reaffirmed for me that it is necessary to meet students where they are, and to fervently believe that they do the best with what they have.”

After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art and a Master of Education in Special Education at Loyola University, Elizabeth Cunningham spent over fifteen years working with adolescents and children in therapeutic day school programs and advocating for special needs students as a Due Process Hearing Officer for the state of Illinois. She is the current Dean of Students as well as the head of Academic Learning Support.

Reflecting upon her decade of work at The Academy, Cunningham stresses that "my time here has reaffirmed for me that it is necessary to meet students where they are, and to fervently believe that they do the best with what they have. My goal is that my students identify their learning styles, assess their strengths and weaknesses, improve academic and organizational skills, and develop strategies that will serve them at The Academy, in college, and into adulthood."
